Rosemary oil has been used since ancient times for a variety of health and beauty benefits.

Description

Rosemary is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region.

It is a member of the mint family which includes basil, lavender, myrtle and sage.

Rosemary essential oil is mostly extracted from the leaves.

The famous 16th. century physician Paracelsus prized rosemary essential oil for its abilities to strengthen the whole body and for its powerful healing properties. It was his favorite essential oil.

Rosemary oil has been used since ancient times for a variety of health and beauty benefits:  the Romans gave special importance to the rosemary plant and used it frequently in religious ceremonies.  It was also used during wedding ceremonies, in cooking,  in cosmetic care and for medicinal reasons.

Rosemary extract was also utilized by the ancient Egyptians as incense.
